DESCRIPTION:Our guest speaker for October is Valerie Simons - a passionate
Rotarian who raises the funds that raises shelters over the heads of famil
ies around the world after disasters. Spotlight on Rotary is a one hour in
formal presentation on the ways in which Rotary helps people locally and i
nternationally. It is intended to inform guests of the opportunities avail
able to give back to their community through volunteering their time and s
kills.  Shelter Box  is a program that originated from the thoughts a Ro
tarian who wondered what a family would need first if their home was sudde
nly swept away.  The number one priority\, especially for children\, is s
helter followed closely  by the other essentials of light\, clean water a
nd stove etc.  Rotarians raise money so that a big green plastic box of e
ssential equipment  is transported  directlty to each desperate family.
Shelter Box Mission We provide shelter\, essential items and technical ass
istance to help some of the world’s most vulnerable people recover and r
ebuild their homes after disaster. We listen and adapt our support to the
needs of each community\, working together with those affected by disaster
\, alongside our supporters and partners. Find  out more about how this a
mazing program works. The evening includes free snacks and refreshments.
